About the Artist

Veronica Battersby Clark
Mix living and traveling in the English countryside, London, Paris, Florence, Charlotte and a family farm in South Carolina. Add talented artist Veronica Clark and the inspiration she draws from the animals she meets on her travels and lives with on her farm. The results are works that reflect her passion and affection for animals and rural life, exemplified in her oil paintings, pastels and charcoal drawings. Having ridden from the age of two, she is captivated by horses as a subject. Dogs, cows and chickens are also frequently portrayed, with her most unusual commission being a turtle! Her impressionist style captures the rich colors of nature and the expressive characters of her four legged friends.
Veronica initially trained with Andy Braitman at the Braitman Studio in Charlotte, N.C. followed by workshops with nationally known artists. Her award-winning work has been featured in The Pastel Journal, the annual exhibition of the American Academy of Equine Art and QC Exclusive magazine. She was the featured artist for the 2008 and again in 2022 for the 25th Anniversary of the Charlotte "Queen's Cup" steeplechase. Veronica’s work can be found in collections across the United States and in Europe.
In 2019 with a curiosity about 3-D and in particular bronze sculpture, Veronica attended a workshop with Rod Zullo in Tryon, NC.
She fell in love with the feel of clay in her hands and is on a new journey making bronzes. Her 3rd piece, a prancing filly, won the sculpture award at the American Academy of Equine Art's annual juried show in 2023.
Veronica is a Juried Artist Member of the American Academy of Equine Art. She is represented by Rutledge Street Gallery in Camden, S.C. and the Crown Gallery in Blowing Rock N.C.
